Vehicle Vibes: 4 vibrations that mean your car needs auto repair

Being able to understand the warning sign your vehicle is giving you about potential issues will help ensure that you are able to get your car to the shop before you end up stuck on the side of the road. Warning signs can come in different forms, such as weird smells or the illumination of a dashboard indicator light. Another common symptom of trouble is odd vibrations that occur while driving. If you experience any of these shaking sensations be sure to get in touch with your local auto repair shop right away to schedule an appointment for further diagnosis.

Vibration while accelerating

An exhaust leak can cause your vehicle to shake and vibrate as the hazardous fumes escape from what is likely, a pretty small hole in the exhaust system. In many cases the gas pedal will generate the vibration, but it can be felt elsewhere, particularly during acceleration. When you accelerate and your RPMs climb there is more exhaust produced, which is why the feeling will be more prominent as you gain speed. This shaking sensation will often be accompanied by a rumbling noise.

Brake pedal vibrations

If you notice a vibration coming from the brake pedal as you slow there is a good chance that you have warped rotors. Rotors are the part that the brake pads squeeze to generate the friction that slows your vehicle. If the rotors are warped they will lose their flat surface and as the pads bounce along this rough area the feeling will be transferred to the brake pedal and perhaps throughout the vehicle. This is important to fix as warped rotors greatly reduce your ability to safely stop.

Shakey steering wheel

If you need a wheel alignment it means that at least one tire is trying to pull the vehicle in different direction than the other tires. This will cause the steering wheel to vibrate back and forth. Be sure to take care of this ASAP as it is a huge safety concern because it prevents you from being able to properly control your vehicle.

Shifter vibration

If you notice a vibration coming from your gear shifter it could mean that your vehicle is low on transmission fluid and/or that there is metal on metal friction occurring during shifting. You may simply need to conduct a transmission fluid flush to resolve this issue.

If you ever notice odd shaking or vibrating dont wait to take your car to a repair shop to have the problem checked out. Many of these issues are be big safety concerns and can be very detrimental to overall health of the vehicle. For professional auto diagnostics and auto repair in West Covina head to Hye-Tech Auto.
