What is Scheduled Auto Maintenance?

What is Scheduled Auto Maintenance? As a vehicle owner it is important that your provide your car or truck with the services it requires in order to run properly. Scheduled auto maintenance, also known as preventative auto maintenance, includes multiple services that are completed at different time frames to help ensure your vehicle does not suffer from a a break down. To keep your car running right be sure to always complete auto maintenance on time, as suggested by your owner's manual. The following are a few of the most common types of auto maintenance.

30/60/90K

Many of the services required by your vehicle are completed at one time, generally every 30,000 miles. During 30/60/90K services your vehicle may undergo battery checks or replacements, spark plug replacements, computer diagnostics, tire checks and wheel alignments (if necessary), and many other important tasks.

Oil Change

The most common form of auto maintenance is the oil change. Most vehicles require an oil change every 3,000 to 5,000 miles, but it differs depending on your make and model. Oil changes are critical to engine health, as fresh oil is necessary for ensuring the motor is properly lubricated.

Timing Belt

If your vehicle is equipped with a timing belt it is necessary to have it replaced at the suggested mileage point, which is usually between 75,000 and 105,000 miles. If the belt is not replaced it could snap, which will cause the engine to fall out of sync with itself, resulting in major damage.

Fluid Flush Services

Aside from gasoline your car uses a number of fluids to operate. From time to time these fluids need to be drained and refilled to ensure they are free of contaminants. The most common fluid flush services are the power steering flush, brake fluid flush, coolant flush, transmission fluid flush and differential flush.

Tune Up

If your vehicle is in between scheduled services and is not running quite right, such as suffering from decreased fuel economy or reduced power, it may be time for a tune up. Tune ups generally involve quick, affordable services that bring your car back up to speed.
